Visual Studio Tips-1

Hi

Here are some useful tips, which will help you a lot while working with VS.

· Cycle the Clip Board:

o Copy few text one by one, then to cycle the clip board(copied items), press Ctrl+Shift+V

o

· Browse with different browsers:

o By default VS will use Internet Explorer as default browser, well you can change the default settings or can browse a particular page with different browser.

· Open Visual Studio from Run Command:

o Run > type “devenv” without quotes > press “ok”

o When you open the VS, mark that, before opening VS, a small splash screen will come, and if you don’t want to see that screen(which can faster opening VS), you can do that doing a small addition in the above command:

§ Type “devenv /nosplash” instead of “devenv”.

Happy coding :)

"Go to Defination" is disabled in visual studio

Today When I was working with Visual Studio, "Go to Defination" didn't work, infact its disabled.

I just search in Google, got the solution, here is it for you:

For ASP.NET solutions

1. close your solution.
2. delete hidden .sou file in folder where your solution's .sln file exists.
3. open your solution.
4. rebuild your solution.

Thats it, problem solved!!!

Happy programming :)

Did you know... how to insert quotes values automatically while typing the attrib values?

Today, May 30, 2009, 5 hours ago | WebDevToolsGo to full article

It's a nice time saver if you would like the HTML editor to automatically add quotes for the attribute values while you are typing.

To set this option select Tools->Options. Check Show all settings. From the left pane select Text Editor -> HTML -> Format and check the insert attribute value quotes when typing checkbox.

Now as soon as you hit "=" for the attrib value, editor will insert a pair of quotes and show the intellisense for the values accepted.

Select a value from the intellisense and press enter/tab. Cursor would jump out of the pair of quotes (you will have to hit the arrow key after entering the attrib value, if it doesn't show up a list of values).
